Wow, what a night! It was an honour to be a finalist in 8 categories, but we were thrilled to win in two of them at the 35th Annual GOHBA Housing Design Awards, held at the Shaw Centre on Oct 20, 2018.
It is very gratifying to be acknowledged for the hard work we have been doing these past few years. It is affirmation that our processes allow us to provide an amazing experience, and that our work is appreciated by our peers and the industry at large.
The first award of the night for us, was a win in the category of Renovation $200,001 – $350,000 for our Tranquility on the River project. This modern renovation of a 1977 riverfront home was one of our favourites.
By relocating the basement stairs and removing a central wall, we were able to open up the entire living space. Introducing more glass in the rear wall optimized the river view while flooding the space with natural light. The contemporary kitchen features beautiful quartz counters and quartz backsplash with high gloss white and cherry cabinets, that ties into the existing wood ceiling. The front entrance features a walk-in closet and the added bonus of main-level laundry. Floating vanities, walk-in showers and a standalone soaker tub made the bathrooms unique. The entire renovation provided a usable space for the entire family.
When the project was complete, this is what our amazing clients had to say:
“I’m SO thrilled with my new space! Working with Lagois on updating my 1977 riverfront home was a fantastic decision for so many reasons. Communication was great, design support and sourcing outstanding and Lagois’s building standards are high, making the end result a beautiful home that will make us happy for many years to come.”
Our second award of the night was an immense honour for the entire team. We won Renovator of the Year! With over 260 entries from 64 companies, this award means a lot as it represents the highest level of recognition awarded annually by GOHBA. The last time we received this honour was in 2011. We were delighted to be able to share this moment with our team and spouses.
New this year, was the requirement that all nominees in the renovation categories be members of RenoMark – the organization that enables homeowners to select renovators who adhere to a strict code of conduct and provide superior service. We’re proud to say that we have been a member of RenoMark® since its inception.
Many thanks go out to the GOHBA gala organizing committee for creating such an incredible night. It was a great honour to share the room with so much design talent and vision. We wish all of our colleagues a fantastic coming year, filled with building and renovation excellence!
