Since the couple plan to age in this home and one grew up here, it was critical to maintaining existing elements, but making it more open and provide easier access. This new rear deck layout was altered to accommodate a seating area that enjoys river views and covered to create shade. A staircase was added for access to the river and backyard.

The breezeway and garage addition were added to give the homeowners covered access to the home and a lift was added to make it barrier-free. The garage was angled to create a nice presentation upon entry from the existing driveway, adding curb appeal and easy entry/exit from the garage.

The space for the kitchen already existed but was cut-off from the rest of the house. Walls and a hallway were removed to create an open concept kitchen with a large island and ample storage. The layout is great for entertaining, guest can be at the island or in the Dining/Living and not feel isolated. The large island creates a great work surface/place to gather, while the work zone is on the other side, outside of the path of travel.

Maintaining the character of the home, all original window and door openings were kept in their existing location. Motorized automated solar roll blinds were added to limit the exposure of harmful ultraviolet rays. The stairs were rotated in their opening to create better flow and presentation as you walk down to the walk-out basement where you are met with gorgeous river views. Rec-room is complete with a pool table and small bar. The laundry has lots of storage and an exterior man door for access to the backyard.
