This home was built in the 1860s. Homeowners knew they wanted to redo the kitchen, however, didn’t know what we would find because it is an older home. While taking out the old kitchen, we had to level the kitchen floor because it moved over time. Their old kitchen had no prep room, was closed off into a corner, and was very dark.

The homeowners wanted a bright and inviting space with a medieval and modern feel to their new kitchen. It was important to make the kitchen more efficient and they really wanted a prep sink on their island. We added an island to their kitchen for prep space with a sink. The island has a curve to create more movement in the kitchen instead of having a normal rectangle shape.

We captured the medieval and modern feel through the light cabinetry with a darker countertop, medieval-style lighting, brick over the hood fan, and detailed finishes. To maximize the openings and stay with the theme, we arched the opening to the kitchen and dining room.
