Net Zero homes are built so they are environmentally sustainable. A Net Zero home produces as much clean energy as it consumes. That means everything: heating, cooling, appliances, lighting, and mechanical systems are as energy efficient as possible. Any remaining energy needed comes from renewable systems, like solar, to generate electricity.
Net Zero homes are incredibly well-built. They have superb insulation, windows and air tightness. They can be as much as 80 per cent more energy efficient than today’s usual new homes.
“Transitioning to a net-zero world is one of the greatest challenges humankind has faced,” says the United Nations Net Zero Coalition. “It calls for nothing less than a complete transformation of how we produce, consume, and move about.”
