Design, the first phase of the well-respected Lagois·Design·Build·Renovate systems and processes, involves the creation of a conceptual design that includes interior and exterior aesthetics, spatial planning, and indoor/outdoor integration.

How the Lagois design process works

Our Lead Designer, Jeff Hurdis, explains:

In Discovery, we work with you to learn:

  • what is working for you in your home
  • what isn’t working for you
  • your end goal.

In Measuring and Reviewing, we:

  • measure your entire existing home and review your existing mechanical systems
  • create an as-built study of your existing conditions.

In Conceptual Design, we:

  • do a full brainstorm session with our in-house team and also assemble an interdisciplinary team of everyone who will be involved in your project
  • develop a conceptual design that considers the aesthetics of your renovation and how you and your family will live in your home
  • consider the three dimensions of your building envelope for interior and exterior shape and form
  • consider the mechanical systems and how to incorporate them.
  • consider external influences like Septic, flood plains, by-laws, setbacks.

In Design Presentation, we:

  • review your design with you as it relates to your goals: Does it make sense for you and your family (after all, you are the ones who will be living in your home); and if not, how can we tweak it?
  • review your overall investment.

In Revising Design, we:

  • use all the notes from our Design Presentation meeting with you and revise the layout as needed
  • introduce build details such as material selections
  • review insulation and window selections.

Design, with all its intricate questions, decisions and creative solutions, is only the beginning of the Lagois winning process. It’s the excitement of the concept, the development of your vision with a professional and talented architectural designer, that shapes your renovation journey with us and helps you, as it has for more than four decades, to Love Where You Live.
