A past client needed us to update the tired, and “ugly” (the client’s description) curb appeal of their home.  The almost 70-year-old stucco was failing, and the blown-in cellulose insulation, also almost 70 years old, was settling to the point that the upstairs rooms were feeling uncomfortable in the winter and summer months.

It was a messy demo, removing all of the cellulose insulation, stucco, and false block from the front of the home.  We started with R-20 spray foam insulation on the front and left elevations all the way to the second floor complete with a new air weather barrier.  Creating a much more comfortable and efficient building envelope.

The siding choice matched the rear and left side addition that we had completed for them in 2007.  New soffit, fascia, eavestroughing, and window and door flashing all matched the side addition, creating a cohesive look and feel to the reinvented curb appeal of the home.

The red door establishes a creative statement under the new gable roof with decorative heavy Douglas Fir timber beam accents.  The client was hoping to achieve a coastal vibe; it was achieved with the colour scheme of the home. The Crusade Outdoor lantern, accented with the cedar tongue and groove finish ceiling, encompasses the coastal feel.

The now larger new deck was finished with Trex decking for durability and ease of maintenance, and new black railings on the deck and down the stairs complete the rejuvenated appeal of the home.

With room now for two chairs, it is a great place to start the day.
