It had always been the plan that his childhood home would be this couple’s retirement home. They looked to us to help them take the 1920ish home out of the 1970’s décor and bring it into the 21st century and create a more modern open concept main floor.
Before and After of the main floor.
A powder room was removed at the back of the house to make way for a flex room addition with a three piece bathroom, currently used as a Den with future possibility to wall it off to turn it into a bedroom if main floor living became a necessity or to welcome an aging parent. The addition also has a closet and a pantry for the overflow from the kitchen.
The colour décor in the home was kept very monochromatic to help show off the clients beautiful artwork and colourful oriental accent rugs. The client’s eye for interior design shines through in her choice of the unique light fixtures throughout the home.
The second floor was reconfigured, removing a bedroom to turn it into a Master bedroom and a large Ensuite with double vanity, angled freestanding tub and large doorless shower with a seat. Custom cubby storage/display and recessed soap niches provide storage and a half wall next to the toilet add privacy. The remainder of the second floor holds a guest bedroom and bathroom and an office.
New black-framed windows throughout, large patio door to the new back deck, new white oak hardwood and tile flooring throughout the home completes this renovation.
