Looking ahead to 2025: hope and activity

January! The light is stronger and the days are getting longer, even if only incrementally so far. Here at Lagois we like the fresh, crisp brightness of Ottawa’s sunshine and snow. We also like its suggestion of hope. We’re beginning to anticipate spring.

An exciting year ahead

We have a great year planned. Renovation trends abound this year, and we’re looking forward to creating fresh new spaces with them: spaces that incorporate indoor-outdoor integration, warmer colours, living in place, carriage houses, fabulous mudrooms, and brilliantly efficient storage (to name only a few).

We also have big events coming up that we love, and we hope you’ll join us.

The Ottawa Home and Remodelling Show

First this year is the Home and Remodelling Show, Jan. 23-26, at the EY Centre at 4899 Uplands Drive in Ottawa. Lagois President Jacob Kirst will be there to talk about how to choose the right contractor for you and your project. We’re giving away tickets, so please sign up for our newsletter to receive one. You’ll also receive a digital copy of the book The Right Fit: How to Choose a Renovator, by Herb Lagois.

In the spring we’ll hold our annual Trades Breakfast as our way of celebrating our whole team of fabulous partners: trades, suppliers and consultants who stand with us, help us, guide us, and provide superlative work.

Motorcycles and quality health

We’re already planning the Lagois Ride for ROSSS in June. ROSSS stands for Rural Ottawa South Support Services. It’s an organization providing affordable, quality health and social programs that support older adults, adults living with disabilities and their caregivers in rural communities south of Ottawa. As an example, every $50 raised allows ROSSS to deliver a week's worth of Meals on Wheels to a rural senior.

If you’re a motorcyclist, we welcome you on the Ride. If not, the Lagois Design-Build-Renovate riders will do the riding for you. You can simply donate to ROSSS and, by attending the party afterwards, you can contribute, too. Several local businesses are sponsoring the event through cash donations and prizes. Stay tuned for more details and where to register if you’d like to ride with us.

Golf for Ronald McDonald House

Early in the fall we’ll be holding our annual golf tournament, and you are invited! You don’t have to be a good golfer. It’s “best ball”, so all you need is one good golfer in your group, and you play off their ball for the entire tournament.

You’ll be helping to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, one of our favourite Lagois charities. Ronald McDonald House is a special and comforting place, a home away from home, for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Keep watching!

We’ll have much more news to share as the year unfolds. We hope you’ll watch this space and help us welcome a brand-new year.
