It was a breakfast of trade champions!
The Annual Lagois Trade Partners Awards Breakfast is our way of celebrating the great people and talent we work with. Day in and day out, over the course of the year, we work with Ottawa’s best plumbers, electricians, roofers, tilers, painters, stonemasons and drywallers. It was truly great to have them all under one roof. Held on January 11, 2018 at the Cedarhill Golf and Country Club, the breakfast was full of energy and anticipation for 2018.
Everyone in attendance received a Lagois toque and took to them with great enthusiasm! While the event gave us all an excuse to laud our mutual accomplishments, it also represented an opportunity to keep our professionalism in check.
At Lagois, we take our work as design-build home renovators very seriously, and this annual event gives us the chance to reinforce our expectations for top-notch quality standards, and introduce any relevant new policy and procedure updates. It also allows the trades people in attendance to demonstrate their respect and understanding of quality workmanship, and share their own best practices with one another.
The breakfast was very generously sponsored by Perkins Home Building Centre and TRUEdotDESIGN was this year’s venue sponsor. We were lucky enough to have two guest speakers this year – Steve Toth from Infrastructure Health and Safety Association, and Blair Ivanovic from Federated Insurance, Lagois’s insurance provider of choice. Steve gave everyone an idea of what to expect in 2018, with a particular focus on why it’s important to train for working at heights, while Blair gave a detailed ins-and-outs lowdown on insurance that is tailored to the construction industry. Also, big thanks goes out to our door prize sponsors, Bytown Lumber, Krown Rust and BLR Safety & First Aid.
Everyone left the event with a FREE copy of the new Infrastructure Health and Safety Association construction manual and is charged up for the fast-approaching high season. The Ottawa homebuilding industry is showing no signs of slowing down and we for one, are delighted.
